Lot #1328.1 - The "Atomic Punk" bubbletop Hot Rod. Mopar based, influenced by the 50's bubbletops by Ed Roth, completed in 2008. Multiple show winner including Best of Show Detroit Autorama 2008 extreme division and the prestigious Fay Butler pick at the Detroit Autorama 2008, Best in Show Mopars at the Mansion, Austin Speed Shop pick Jesse James at the Texas Lone Star Roundup. Rod and Custom cover car, Mopar Collector's guide cover car. Also featured in Nitro from France, Street Rodder, Rod and Kulture, OSR, C D Deluxe, World of Rods, Playboy, History of Moon Equipment and Mike Mueller's Mopar books. This all steel work of art took over 18 months to build. It was built to be driven and shown, it is very roadworthy. Basis for the build was a 1959 Plymouth, 392 HEMI, Classic Speed Equipment 8x2 intake, 8 Holley 94 carburetors, bored and balanced, Arias 10:1 pistons, 9" posi-traction rear end, custom built headers, approximately 450hp and a Turbo 400 transmission. House of Kolor Candy Red paint, interior by Dave Martinez. Truly a work of art and judged to be one of the best bubbletop Hot Rods ever built. Built by Aaron Grote, Grote Rod Shop Cerro Gordo Illinois. Now recognized and judged to be one of the top hot rod builders in the world.
