Description
Lot #1332 - This is one of the most interesting 1955 Bel Air convertibles. This car was commissioned by the Indianapolis 500 Festival Race Committee to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the small block Chevrolet V8. The car was restored to exact specification of the track-ready cars built in 1955 with one great exception, the track cars were painted two-tone cream and red whereas this car is painted black and is stunning. It carries the correct original 265cid V8 engine that the original pace cars were all equipped with as well. Other options include an automatic transmission, AM radio, power top, bumper guards, factory heater and defroster, and intermittent wipers. The interior is show quality as are the carpets and seats. All of the instruments are completely restored to concours show condition. The engine was highly detailed to show condition when restored, has only been very lightly used since, and has been re-detailed recently. The underside and trunk are restored to completely original. The overall condition of this car is outstanding and ready for show. The car comes with an ERTL model of the Pace Car, ACD Museum documents showings its time there and known ownership history.
