Description
Lot #612.1 - This LJ20 micro-Jeep has true 4x4 with transfer case and standard 4-speed transmission and is powered by a 360cc, 2-stroke engine, qualifying it for microcar status in Japan. Measures only 125" long and one of only 800 units imported into the U.S. This example received a frame-off restoration by the previous owner, and wears a sunny, bright yellow paint job, the original factory color. The windshield folds down for safari action and there is a tailgate in back for loading gear. It sports the correct non-directional military style tires and early Jeep-style solid rims, as well as the odd factory-correct vertical fender mirrors. It also has a vinyl bed cover with hidden no-snap fastening, a bikini top and a removable rear window all custom made for this vehicle. A period correct CB radio, PA system and heavy-duty roll bar round out the package. The LJ gets attention wherever it goes, and recently won Best in Show at its very first car show, the 2010 Japanese Classic Car Show at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.
