Description
Lot #696 - This tractor was specifically made for the orchards around the country in 1949. This beautifully restored machine is one of only 624 AO's ever built in 1949. The tractor was designed to start on gas and then run on fuel of any type back in the time when gas was as high as 9 cents a gallon. The shielding and screens wrapped these tractors as they passed through orchards in California, Florida and all the fruit and nut producing states. This would protect not only the trees but the operators. Button rear tires and ribbed front tires protected the surface growing roots of the tree. John Deere also produced these tractors with rear exhaust and they were the only John Deere tractors ever produced without stacks. Every nut and bolt was removed and recondition on this 1949 AO. The engine, transmission, carburetor, wiring and every component has been restored to John Deere factory specs. Frank Implement Company of Scottsbluff, Nebraska a John Deere dealer since 1957 proudly and meticulously restored this very, very rare 1949 John Deere Model AO. These tractors represent American agriculture history. They are rare machines and make a great piece for shows, parades, history museums, and most of all fun to drive around your town.
