Description
Lot #388 - Nickey Chevrolet of Chicago was one of the largest Chevrolet dealers in the U.S. and with the help of the legendary engine builder Bill Thomas in California, Nickey came up with a plan to install high performance 427 Corvette engines into the Camaro in late 1966. Bill Thomas Engineering of the west coast and famous drag racer Dick Harrell in Chicago were responsible for heading the Nickey supercar program of the late 60s. It is estimated that there were only 14 Nickey Camaros built in '67 and of those, only three received the legendary aluminum headed Tri-Power 427 L-89 engine. This nut and bolt restoration was done to re-create a Nickey Camaro with many rare parts such as the vintage Chevy 427 snow flake Tri-power intake setup, real Nickey emblems and decals, along with the correct stinger hood and period correct American Racing TTO 5-spoke wheels used on these cars. The drivetrain has been upgraded to a 468ci big block roller engine and a more reliable Richmond 5-speed transmission, fresh 12-bolt posi-traction rear with heavy duty 11" clutch and bullet proof Long shifter. The body was stripped and all of the original rust-free sheet metal smoothed and finished in base coat/clear coat tuxedo black. Interior has been completely restored in correct '67 red and features the rare radio delete option. This '67 Camaro is an outstanding re-creation of an extremely rare car.
