Lot #82 - Vintage, documented with photos, Chevrolet Impala 409 drag car raced as The Mouse Trap by driver Jim Prescott in numerous classes including SS/A, B/SS and AFX back in the day. Now brought back to street legal and car be driven anywhere. Pictured in a 1981 issue of Super Chevy magazine. Car raced throughout the Midwest with various 409 and 427 engine combinations and fuel systems. A time slip from the famous Union Grove Dragway documents the car running an 11.6. The current engine was the last engine raced. It is a 409 with original large port 425hp factory heads and factory dual-quad manifold with a pair of new 650cfm Edelbrock carburetors with new linkage. All rebuilt approximately 3,000 miles ago, Muncie M22 Rock crusher 4-speed rebuilt with an original Hurst shifter and T-grip. The goal was to retain the car as close to "as raced" as possible, both in paint and appearance, and leave the original patina with the original equipment, but upgrade for street reliability. The 1969 paint on the car and the extensive 5-color pin striping is completely original to its racing days. The race paint shows the wear of nearly 40 years, but is quite attractive overall. The car has its original fiberglass front fenders and front bumpers. Still on the car are the original pair of vintage M&H slicks that this car last raced on, mounted on a pair of vintage 8" wide Cragar SS wheels, as was the custom of the era. The engine compartment has been cleaned, painted and detailed. Car comes with photographs and tons of receipts showing history and work done to car.
