Description
Lot #338 - This 1931 Ford Model AA postal delivery truck is one of the AA's delivered to the Minneapolis Post office in 1931 and was put into service in early '32 for regional, inter-office transport of large loads. It was cosmetically and mechanically restored and rebuilt from the ground up. The chassis and all mechanicals were completely torn apart with all new bearings, braces, gears, seals, gaskets, springs, fasteners, joints, etc. installed as needed and the engine, transmission and rear end were all treated to full rebuilds. The meticulously reproduced wood cargo box is a work of art, built to the original 200 cubic foot specification as fitted to this long chassis AA when it was new. The top grade oak and poplar woods were hand picked from a specialty hardwood lumber supplier and all pieces were planed to the proper depth and length using the fastidiously dismantled, tagged and labeled original pieces as benchmarks along with original Post Office drawings to ensure supreme accuracy. Correct U.S. Military Olive Green as dictated by the Post Office Department with the Ford bodywork finished standard "any color you want as long as it's black". The build was a 3-year, no-expense-spared labor of love carried out by Buffalo Restorations in Puyallup, WA with hundreds of hours put in.
