Description
Lot #652.1 - On the first anniversary of the Mustang, April 17th, 1965, Ford came out with an option package GT equipment group. The GT stood for the European abbreviation of Gran Turismo which was commonly used on many high performance touring car models. These GT Mustangs are a combination of performance ant appearance. This GT, built at the San Jose, CA plant on July 28th, 1965, is quite unique in that it has been fully restored to concours condition and has less than 6,200 original miles from new. With the GT option of front disc brakes, dual exhaust hat protrudes through the rear valance, special handling package, fog lamps and grille bar, 5 gauge instrument cluster, lower GT side striping and a GT badge on the front fender. These cars were the latest in the new evolving Mustang performance line. There were many other features that an individual could have the dealer install, but the standard GT was a step up from the standard product line cars. The data plate denotes a standard interior hardtop with bucket seats. An "A" Code 289 4V engine producing 225hp and attached to a C4 automatic transmission. On the inside, the black appointments go perfectly with the beautiful exterior of Poppy Red.
