Lot #1027 - Up for auction is a Ford Mustang FR500S, a specially prepared car that has competed in the Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup. This car is #56 of approximately 75 that were built on the production line in Flat Rock, Michigan, the first time Ford has ever built a production run of cars for a race car series on their assembly line. Prepared by Capaldi Racing in conjunction with Ford Racing, the car features a specially modified production 4.6L, 3-valve V8 engine producing 325hp. The car has just completed the 2009 series and is race ready for the qualified enthusiast who wants to go racing in a competitive series. The car bears the autographs of many of the drivers in the series and it still bears the name of Gary Bennett of Barrett-Jackson as the most recent driver at the final series event at Miller Motorsports Park. This FR500 Mustang is race proven and is race ready with all safety equipment, data acquisition recorders and timing and scoring transponders. And it has been returned to race ready condition including new tires and race series calibrations by Capaldi Racing. This Mustang is truly unique in that it is equipped with a passenger seat as it was used as a media car to run hot laps with celebrities and members of the media. Included with the car is a commemorative build book along with an authentic die cast replica model of this car. The die cast models were specifically produced to promote both the race series and the FR500 Mustang. This car will be at home in a collection or on the race track.
