Description
Lot #975.4 - Virgil Exner, the newly hired designer, was given the responsibility for the company's all-new 1955 "Forward Look" cars. Finally, Chryslers would indeed have everything, including style and hyped as "The New 100 Million Dollar Look." The 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country wagon was the most expensive in the 1955 Chrysler New Yorker lineup at $4,209, was the heaviest at 4,430lbs and sold a mere 1,036 examples. This example has been restored as needed to show quality and comes from a significant Chrysler collection. It features the 331cid HEMI V8, power steering, power brakes, Benrus 8-day steering wheel clock and the extremely rare Miller Kardeck chrome and wood slotted roof rack. It also wears the correct Chrysler Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels and the original Mopar "bullseye" sealbeam headlamps. Also of special note is the beautiful, original wood and chrome wagon bed. In 2008, the prestigious Kirkland Concours in Seattle featured a special class of station wagons. This Town & Country won Best in Class against very stiff competition.
