Lot #1036.1 - Panoz took advancements gained in LeMans racing and applied them to the Esperante for the special edition GTLM in 2005. The body has extensively improved aerodynamics and under the aluminum hood, cradled in a new carbon fiber superstructure, a supercharged version of Fords quad cam, 32v V8 was slotted in where the naturally aspirated, SOHC 4.6 lives in the standard car. Likewise a Tremec 6-speed gearbox replaced the base car's 5-speed and drives an 8.8" limited slip differential. While the factory 420hp was good, this particular GTLM has been further upgraded taking performance to a different universe. The stock blower was replaced at the dealer with a Ford Racing/Whipple twin screw unit and breathes out the other end through stainless headers and a free flow sport exhaust system. Output jumps to a ballistic 640hp, leaving AMG SL's, V10 M6's and everything else trembling in its wake. Also added were PIAA Racing 19" wheels and huge 14" front Brembos. With $19,000 in upgrades, this very special car cost $141,000 new. Panoz is no longer making a production vehicle and this 720 actual mile car may be someone's last opportunity to own a genuinely low mile Esperante GTLM.
