Description
Lot #946 - This Austin-Healey MK III BJ8 in the rare color of black with red interior had a total nut and bolt rotisserie restoration by John Wilson's Healey Lane Restorations of Oregon in 2009. 1967 was the last year of production of the big Healey's and one of the most sought after for investment. This Healey was sold new in California and comes with the British Heritage factory Build Sheet. The restoration was done to Austin Healey Club National Gold concours standards, the best urethane paint, Sitkens, was used in the bare metal restoration and the factory correct red amblia interior is outstanding. The top and boot cover are made of English Everflex material as used when new. The engine, transmission and overdrive were totally rebuilt. The engine rebuild was done to a standard better than original and included hard seats in the head, a retrofit rear engine seal on the crankshaft to eliminate common British oil leaks and the engine was balanced for a smoother running drive. The windshield and door glass were replaced and all chrome is re-plated or new. The bumpers came from England and are much better than the Taiwan made ones. The exhaust is stainless steel for long life and they sound great, nothing like the sound of a Healey going down a country road. All the original fasteners were zinc plated and many parts were powdercoated including the convertible top frame. This is the Healey to have driving pleasure for many happy miles.
