Description
Lot #391 - 1967 was the last year of the iconic split window Microbus and the first year of the 12-volt electrical system, dual master cylinder, reverse lights and several other '67 only trim details. This 1967 Volkswagen Deluxe Microbus wears its complete original beige-gray paint inside and out, while the Titan Red portion below the beltline has been professionally re-sprayed on this rust-free and accident-free California vintage Volkswagen. All deluxe trim and brightwork is original and has been reconditioned including the optional side step. Special ordered with the optional walk-through seating, this deluxe bus features split front seats and the original 3/4 middle seat, with all original grab bars and kick panels. All of the seat frames have been powdercoated, and new molded horse-hair seat padding was used with perfect reproduction mesh platinum material to result in correct factory seat contours that are flat, not over-padded. The interior door panels are also exact reproductions of the original material with correct chrome deluxe trim throughout and all original fasteners. The headliner has been replaced with an exact factory reproduction along with all new window seals. The original 12-volt electrical system works as it should with excellent exterior lighting, turn signals, interior lights, reverse lights, factory 2-speed wipers and even the original in-dash Sapphire AM radio oozes warm tunes. A full mechanical restoration has been performed and this Microbus has benefited from a blueprinted and detailed motor, rebuilt free-way-flyer transmission and all new German brake components. Although this rolling piece of German automobile history looks like it has just completed an American family trip in 1967 with original vintage travel decals and accessories, it is ready to put into daily service today as it was originally intended.
