Description
Lot #1276 - Oldsmobile's King of the Hill. The 1970 W30 is one of the quickest production Olds ever built. This beautiful Agean Aqua droptop is one of just 126 Hurst Dual Gate 1970 W30 convertibles produced. This is a numbers matching car with a long list of factory options. This stunning 442 has recently completed a total show winning restoration. Professional shops did every aspect of the frame-off restoration under the watchful eyes of members of the Oldsmobile Club of America, with well over $100,000 spent during the meticulous process. Mechanically, the car has the W30 correct coded Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, "F" heads, "OW" TH400 transmission, along with the correct intake manifold, alternator, distributor and exhaust manifolds. The factory air conditioning mandated a 3.23 limited slip rear differential. Attention to detail is evident throughout the car including the pristine undercarriage. What makes this car even rarer is the incredible amount of factory options including power windows, power door looks, power driver seat, power steering, gauge cluster with tachometer, tilt steering wheel, stainless spoke steering wheel, floor console with Hurst Dual Gate shifter, power trunk release, outside sport mirrors, AM/FM stereo, interior hood lock, Night Watch headlight delay switch, map light rear view mirror, interior courtesy lights, as well as engine and trunk compartment lights. The car is finished in special ordered, 1970 only, Agean Aqua and has the correct paint code on the data plate. The white stripes and convertible top complement the pearl white interior and the SS1 wheels with Firestone wide oval tires make the car look like it just rolled out of the showroom. This is an extremely low production car, beautifully restored, amazingly optioned and finished in a stunning color combination. Even today, very few naturally aspirated cars match or exceed the 500 ft/lbs of the 1970 W30. This rare W30 won First Place at the Canadian Oldsmobile Nationals in 2007. Even more impressive, the top experts in the Oldsmobile world scored the impeccably restored W30 990 points out of 1,000 at the 2007 Canadian Oldsmobile Nationals. Further validation of her correctness was attained when the top experts in the muscle car world judged her in November 2009 earning 988 points out of 1,000 at the Muscle Car Nationals earning its Concours Gold Award. This very special W30 has walked its talk in the toughest competition possible.
