Description
Lot #1266 - This 1966 Shelby GT350 is absolutely "Red, White and Real". She is #1573. This Shelby was a special order by her original owner with red paint, 4-speed manual transmission, Detroit Locker rear end and 10-spoke wheels. Documented in the SAAC Registry. Finished in her original colors, red and black interior. Rotunda racing mirrors, Shelby optional real wood steering wheel and Ford AM/FM radio added after original owner's purchase. LeMans stripes added during her restoration. This Shelby was delivered in July 1966 through Portland Motor Sales - Ford. Documentation of this Shelby includes the Ford owner's manual, Shelby supplement, copies of order/delivery original invoices, as well as copies of warranty invoices. #1573 was purchased by her current owner from a warehouse in Florida. A documented ground-up restoration to the highest standards was completed by Tri-City Mustang Restoration, Inc. in June 2008. All components disassembled, inspected and restored/replaced. Restoration documentation and photographic record included. Matching numbers, Ford VIN verified to match Shelby VIN by SAAC. Engine is VIN stamped. All difficult to find and expensive parts in place, Cobra aluminum intake, valve covers, oil pan, Shelby part number date coded carburetor, tachometer, traction bars, seat belts, etc. Painstaking level of detail invested to duplicate factory finishes and markings. Dashboard inscribed with #1573 and "Red, White and Real" and signed by Carroll Shelby. Awarded Concours Gold at the SAAC Indiana Spring Fling 2008 and SAAC 33. Displayed at the Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance in 2008. Restoration update completed in June 2009 based on SAAC judges input to make this Concours Gold recipient that much closer to the perfect standard. Again awarded Concours Gold at the SAAC Indiana Spring Fling 2009 and SAAC 34. Multiple best of class and show winner at other SAAC and MCA affiliated club shows. Award documentation from SAAC, judging sheet and certificates, will be provided to the new owner. Trophies will be retained by current owner.
