Description
Lot #957 - This 57 Chevy was restored with a couple of really rare features. First, it's a Model 210 Hardtop. The 210 Model was manufacured almost exclusively as two and four-door sedans rather than hardtops. Second, this is the first year of the Rochester Ram Jet Fuel Injection system. Two different horsepower selections were available, 250hp and 283hp, with the main difference being hydraulic lifters on the lower hp and solid lifters with hi-lift cam on the 283hp. The 57 featured here has the solid lifter engine developing 1 horsepower per cubic inch, considered a milestone of that day. It has a 3-speed Saginaw manual transmission, column mounted. It has a correct 1957 "EK" block stamping which decodes to 283cid/283hp, Fuel Injected, 3-speed manual, hi-lift cam, solid lifters, 10.5:1 compression, correct 1957 dual-point distributor, correct 3.70 posi-trac rear and a correct Hydro-Vac booster for the power brakes. It is painted the original solid color of Matador Red with interior trimmed in the correct Ivory vinyl and Charcoal pattern cloth. The steel wheels, poverty hubcaps and blackwall tires accent the "plain-jane sleeper" look for this vintage muscle car.
