Description
Lot #640 - The vehicle featured here had a frame-off restoration in 2000 and features the all new for 1940 fully hydra-matic transmission, a rare and pricey option at the time ($100) on a car that had a base price of $1,045.00. This car has a heater and defroster, power vacuum top, a working AM radio, leather interior and a spot light. A very well done restoration on this rare convertible. The car drives very nice and has been fully serviced. It has only been used for some local shows and parades. This car is ready to flex its muscles anytime and be driven on a local cruise or to any show. The safety automatic transmission was semi-automatic in that it still used a clutch to get the car going and then shifted automatically. The hydra-matic transmission, a fully clutchless automatic transmission, debuted in 1940.
