Description
Lot #762 - A 406cid/405hp, 6-barrel, 4-speed car. A complete, and accurate, frame-off restoration on an actual "G" code Ford. This '62 Galaxie was Ford's choice to compete in the NHRA A/FX class. This car was the production/homologation version of Ford's first all out effort in the super stock wars. This production version of the '62 Galaxie is powered by the famous Thunderbird 406 which has 405hp and 448 ft/lbs of torque. This super powerplant features 11.4:1 compression, solid lifter camshaft, factory cast iron headers and 3 Holley 2-barrel carburetors. A Borg-Warner T-10 close ratio 4-speed transmission puts the 405hp to a 9" Ford Traction-Lok rear end with factory 4.11 gears. Finished in Wimbledon White with Mist Green interior and upgraded with American Racing Torque Thrust wheels for that period-correct look. This car is a stunning example of the early '60's super cars that thundered down the quarter mile. Autographed by Dennis Gage of "My Classic Car". A rare example of one of Ford's rarest drivetrains. Less than 79,000 original miles.
