Description
Lot #928 - Produced from 1955 through 1958, the 1958 Chevrolet Cameo Carrier is the rarest of the four vintages, and the last of the Cameo line. Among the best-known mid-1950's collectible light trucks, The Cameo Carrier set truck styling history with its smooth, car-like lines, and thus cost a premium over other trucks of its day. The 1958 model is the rarest of all Chevrolet Cameos as only 1,405 were built. The example presented here has undergone a recent complete frame-off restoration. It has been restored to stock condition with the addition of one modern convenience: an engine-driven compressor for air conditioning. It is powered by a 283cid Chevrolet V8 engine coupled with a 4-speed Hydro-matic automatic transmission, and is in excellent driving condition. All systems function perfectly, including lights, reproduction radio, wipers and gauges. Radial tires have been mounted for drivability purposes and the correct, rare wheel covers are installed on the wheels. The new owner will have a difficult decision to make, Should he drive it, or show it?
