Description
Lot #969.1 - This 1967 GTO HO, 400cid V8 Ram Air convertible is a PHS documented, highly factory optioned classic muscle car known to many as "The Great One". Just completed a frame-off, rotisserie restoration with 3,500 hours of meticulous work to make this truly the "Great One". Factory options include power steering, power brakes, power top, posi-traction, 4-speed manual transmission, Rally I wheels, Firestone Poly red line tires, Rally clock, HO engine option, remote outside mirror on driver side, passenger vanity mirror, tint glass, console and bucket seats. Has new upholstery front and back. Aftermarket options include a hood tachometer installed to factory specifications, Ram Air induction installed to factory specs, tilt column steering wheel, deluxe Pontiac wood sports wheel, factory mats front and back, chrome console-mounted vacuum gauge, rear-mounted power antenna, and an AM/FM radio fully re-conditioned with the original speaker re-coned. Also added was a new Turbo exhaust system with chrome extensions. The frame was sand blasted along with the A-arms and powdercoated. There is a driver's side patch on the floor and the trunk and driver's side quarter was replaced professionally to make this a rust-free GTO. Other installations include top-of-the-line Robbins convertible top and window plastic to put the finishing touch on this beauty. The original transmission was switched out for a new more durable Muncie transmission allowing for unbelievable performance. The motor was completely rebuilt and boasts less than 500 miles on the rebuild. The transmission and rear end were both recently rebuilt as well and share the same miles as the engine. All of the body work and mechanical work was completed by Hammons Customizing and Gearheads of Sacramento, California. Hammons is an award-winning, Cal Expo, Best of Show, Hot Rod Category restoration company. Bruce Bethel, former owner of "The Goat Farm" of San Jose, California, completed all of the finishing touches. The GTO is painted in DuPont Midnight Black with three base coats and three clear coats of DuPont Chromabase Clear. It is also pin striped in red to set off a beautiful contrast throughout the vehicle. This is a PHS documented classic muscle car having undergone a color change from Signet Gold to Midnight Black. Truly the "Great One".
