Description
Lot #1244.1 - Like many diamonds in the rough, this '55 started out needing a lot of help and attention. Rather than rebuilding the truck back to its stock form, this team applied a full court press and kept nothing but the body. Total Cost Involved Engineering supplied one of their complete, high strength chassis complete with a 4-link setup and chrome 9" Currie rear end with 3.70 gears. The frame is powdercoated metallic pewter. A complete Air Ride Technologies suspension gives the '55 that "just right" body rake or allows it to be dropped nearly to the ground. At the corners, the monster 13" Wilwood brakes and aluminum 4-piston calipers provide serious "Whoa" power. A polished fuel tank from No Limit Engineering was located between the frame rails and ?" stainless braided lines were ran to the front. Street & Performance assembled the hard hitting 502cid big block rated at 510hp and topped it off with an MEFI IV computer controlled Fuel Injection system firing 38# injectors. Gear changes are assigned to a polished, computer controlled GM 4L60 automatic overdrive transmission. The glistening aluminum 5-spoke SLC75 wheels are from Billet Specialties and measure 18"x 8" up front and 20"x 10" in back. Kenny Stevens of Steven's Custom Interiors in Buford, Georgia designed, stitched and installed soft white leather and black ostrich skin over a pair of BMW 3 series power bucket seats. Kenny fabricated and covered the door panels, headliner and kick panels in matching white leather with black accents. Driver comfort considerations were addressed with the additions of ice cold air conditioning from Vintage Air and nostalgic green tinted glass from Vintage Glass. Billet Specialties provided the aluminum tilt steering column and matching Hustler steering wheel. All the fabrication, body work and drivetrain installations were performed by Russ Cowart in Dawsonville, Georgia.
