Description
Lot #695 - A 9,728 original mile car. It was a bootlegger's wife's car. Yes that is correct, this is and un-restored '58 Cross Country wagon and an absolute time capsule with a teardrop trailer. There is a very interesting story behind this rare car, but first here is some info on the car. Powered by a 196cid 6 cylinder with 3-speed manual overdrive transmission, radio delete, heater, roll down tailgate window, fold down back seat with original hold downs, roof rack, full wheel covers, original two tone paint and matching interior. The car is in excellent condition in and out with no sign of wear any place. It has all original trim and chrome. This car runs and drives like a brand new car. There are no issues, no quirks, no nothing. I can confidently say this is one of the lowest mile un-restored original Rambler Cross Countries in the country, or probably the world. The story on this car is this; it was purchased new by Mr. Royal Presly Higgins of Ronda, NC. for his lovely wife. Mr. Higgins was the owner of the local general store in town, but operated a moonshine still at the rear of the store. He went to prison twice for running a still, then passed away many years ago leaving the car to his wife. She was an elderly person and never drove it, so it stayed in their garage until she passed on. The car was discovered in the condition you see here, original and pristine. It has survived the test of time, always being maintained, cared for and kept in a warm garage. This car is fully serviced, detailed and ready for show, private collection or a museum. Tear Drop trailer included.
