Description
Lot #1272 - This steel bodied 3 window coupe is the first Deuce to win the prestigious Ridler Award in 1988. This Deuce features a Henry Ford body that has a chopped top and filled roof. It is powered by a highly detailed small block Chevy with extremely rare Barnes Indy racing heads and 8 Weber downdraft carburetors, all of which are coupled to a polished Turbo 350 transmission. The independent front and rear suspension as well as the rolling chassis were custom fabricated by Boyd Coddington's shop in the mid-1980's where the many billet components where hand-machined or custom milled in addition to the machine turned surfaces. The interior features custom stitched leather, custom designed gauges in a one-off panel, 3-spoke billet steering wheel and a custom console. When it won the Ridler, the car was yellow with purple anodized motor and suspension parts. It underwent a complete frame-off restoration in 2007 by Hatfield Restorations in Texas. Pictures of the build process are included in which it was stripped to bare metal and restored to the highest standard. This Deuce is a serious piece of hot rod history.
