Description
Lot #990 - The 1960 Plymouth was significant in many respects as it was the last Plymouth manufactured with their famous fins ("Stabilizers" as they were called in the sales literature.) And it was the first Plymouth manufactured using uni-body construction. The uni-body construction offered weight and material savings over the then, body-on-frame construction, while at the same time made for a stiffer body. Today, practically all manufacturers use this construction for automobile bodies. These ultra-cool big fin convertibles are becoming harder and harder to find and to find one in such incredible condition is very rare. This stunning 1960 Plymouth Fury convertible came from the factory loaded with all the goodies including a 361/305hp Golden Commando engine, 3-speed push-button automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power top, swivel seats and Aero steering wheel. The rust-free sheet metal is perfectly straight down both sides which is very rare on these extremely long cars. The gorgeous Plum Red metallic exterior surrounds a beautiful Plum Red, white and black interior. The interior looks to be completely original and is in mint condition throughout. The black convertible top, boot and lining are all brand new and flawless. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, power top, air conditioning, swivel seats and AM radio work perfectly. Even the lighter works likes new. All of the chrome and brightwork is in excellent condition throughout. The 361/305hp Gold Commando engine runs beautifully and the 3-speed push-button automatic transmission shifts flawlessly with no issues whatsoever. I would drive this car from coast to coast if I had to. If you have been searching for a classic big fin convertible then you have found your car.
