Description
Lot #946 - This 2008 Saturn Redline, 260hp, Direct Inject, Turbo convertible served as the official pace car for the Inaugural Fireball Run Transcontinental Rally. The first Fireball Run was a cross-country adventure which started in Orlando, FL on September 29, 2007 and ended a week later in Beverly Hills, CA on October 6th. 65 teams participated in this incredible event, which served as a huge awareness raising campaign for Child Rescue Network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit missing and victimized children's organization. "The Race to Recover America's Missing Children" was a huge success for CRN as each team adopted a different missing child. Part of their mission as they played this "game" was to distribute posters of their assigned child. 50,000 flyers were handed out and posted along the 3500 mile route across the southern United States making thousands of people more aware of the number of children reported missing each year. To date 12 of the children featured during the event have been located and reunited with their searching families. The winners of the event were Team 29 consisting of Artie Malesci, actor Jeffrey Donovan, and Rich Minga. Artie has worked on such films and television shows as "The Transporter", "Miami Vice", "Men in Black", and "Burn Notice". Jeffrey Donovan currently stars in USA network's "Burn Notice" and has also been seen in "Crossing Jordan". Rich Minga has worked on several shows as well including "2 Fast 2 Furious", and "Burn Notice". As the winner's of the Inaugural Fireball Run, Artie, Jeffrey, and Rich were given the keys to the "Official Pace Car" at the awards ceremony in Beverly Hills. In an incredible act of generosity the team promptly turned to Jeff Griesemer, CRN President and CEO, and announced that they were donating the car to Child Rescue Network. So not only does this vehicle have a very unique heritage, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the Sky go to support Child Rescue Network's mission to protect children and bring home those who are missing. The Official Pace Car sports all of the Fireball Run graphics and includes a commemorative dash plate signed by many of the participants. There are over 600 children reported abducted every single day. "The Race to Recover America's Missing Children" is a phenomenal campaign to make people aware of the thousands of children being victimized. Hopefully with your support we can help parents better protect their children and bring even more of these missing kids home where they belong! Fireball Run 2 "Back to the Track" kicks off September 25, 2008 as we start out in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on our exciting journey to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
