Description
Lot #322.1 - 1978 was Cadillac's last year for the large Eldorado. To commemorate this, Cadillac made a very limited production called the "Eldorado Custom Biarritz Classic". This special build of only 2,000 total units was announced to Cadillac dealers in April of 1978 and was produced between May and July of 1978. The "Eldorado Classic" shared all of the special features of the Custom Biarritz, plus the following distinct additions: Unique two tone exterior of Arizona Beige and Demitasse Brown, dark brown Biarritz-style accent striping, light beige interior trim with dark Saddle leather "pillowed" seat cushion and back rests, light beige Elk Grain Cabriolet-style vinyl half roof, gold-plated Biarritz scripts on the sail panels and deck lid, leather-wrapped steering wheel and color-matched wheel discs. The Classic option was an additional cost of $2,466. All 2,000 of the Eldorado Classics got their special treatment at American Sunroof, located 7 miles from the Cadillac factory in Southgate, MI. At American Sunroof, they received the Demitasse Brown paint to the hood and the front half of the roof. They applied roof caps for the padded Cabriolet-style vinyl half top and the interior rear window trim. The trim down-sized the rear window glass, giving it its unique styled appearance. The stainless steel Biarritz trim molding and special gold-plated Biarritz scripts were added as well as the dark brown exterior accent striping. 500 of the 2,000 were equipped with a power sunroof option. This is not one of those vehicles. A sticker was also placed on the upper driver's side door jam, showing the vehicles manufacturer date and when American Sunroof had completed their part of the customization. This completed the special treatment added by American Sunroof to the Eldorados and they were returned to the Cadillac factory. This automobile was purchased new b our local family doctor at Ree Motors Cadillac GMC in Montevideo, MN. It is 1 of only 1,500 with out a sunroof from this very limited afore mentioned run of only 2,000 Custom Biarritz Classics. It has the following features that you would expect from a high-end Cadillac: 425cid engine, 50/50 seating with fold down arm rests and dual 6-way power, climate control, cruise control, tile and telescoping steering wheel, power windows, power door locks, Sentinel auto dimming headlights, AM/FM stereo with built-in factory CB, power antenna, delay wipers, outside thermometer, dual remote rear view mirrors, lighted passenger make-up mirror, remote electronic trunk release, load leveler, door edge guards, bug deflector and only 3,393 original miles. The exceptional condition of this automobile, combined with its extreme rarity and ultra-low mileage make it very desire able and highly collectible.
