Description
Lot #1354 - 1969 Mustang sportsroof 428 SCJ (Super Cobra Jet) Drag Pack. An Arizona vehicle. Original matching number 428 SCJ motor with a 4-speed and a 4.30 Drag Pack. Indian Fire Red. Documented by a Marti Report. 1 of 1 with the above combination. Meticulous frame-up restoration on a totally rust-free body. Own one of the rarest and most desirable 1969 Mustangs ever built. Follow along with the Ford Authorized Marti Report documentation for the proof. In 1969, 229,036 Mustangs were produced. 131,816 were non-Shelby sportsroof cars and of them, 10,130 were built with 428 4V Ram Air motors. 5,853 came with 4-speed close ratio transmissions. 391 were painted Indian Fire and 8 had black standard bucket seats. 2 had a 4.30 Traction-Lok Drag Pack rear axle and only 1 had power disc brakes. This is that 1 of 1 special order 1969 Mustang. The Mustang was ordered December 1969 and received at Canyon Ford in Phoenix. The original owner drove the car off the Lot on March 13, 1969. The car came equipped with the following options: 428 SCJ engine with Drag Pack, 4-speed close ratio manual transmission, Traction-Lok differential 4.30 ratio, F70X14 traction tires with raised white letters, power front disc brakes, power steering, AM radio, complete tinted glass, color-keyed racing mirrors, argent-style steel wheels, and competition suspension. The Data Code Tag is as follows: 9 - 1969 model year, R - Built in San Jose, CA, 02 - Mustang sportsroof, R - 428 4V SCJ Ram Air. (50,423 vehicle scheduled for production at San Jose, CA). Body 63A - Mustang sportsroof body, Color Y - Indian Fire paint (Ford #3202-A), Trim 2A - Black Kiwi vinyl standard bucket seats, Date 24B - Scheduled for build February 24, 1969, DSO 75 - Phoenix ordering district, Axle 4.30 - Traction-Lok ratio, Transmission 6 - 4-speed close ratio manual transmission. On March 13, 1969, the proud owners from Phoenix took possession of their new 1969 Mustang. By Saturday night, they hit the drags for the inaugural run. The car turned in times of 13.9 @ 104mph. Campaigned by a great owner/driver for the next few years. The drag car won many local and regional races with times as low as 13.20 @ 109mph. The car was then street driven for a few years, retired and stored in the early 80's. In early 2006, I ended up with the car. 2 years later, we rolled out the complete nut and bolt restoration. The driveline is complete and correct including the evaporative emissions original smog equipment. The 1969 Mustang 428 SCJ sportsroof looks "showroom stock". A full book of the restoration including pictures of the 2-year process, original owner's contact information and receipts are included. This vehicle is rare, desirable and investment quality. How rare. One of one.
