Lot #85 - In 1978 Corvette was honored as the Indy Pace Car. Though Chevrolet had intended to produce only 2,500. The demand was far greater and the dealers argued for more. Though 6,500 were finally produced, the demand far out stripped the availability causing the vehicles to bring as much as twice their original MSRP. This 1978 pace car has the much desired larger L82 220hp engine as well as T-Tops, alloy wheels, power windows, air conditioning, power door locks and AM/FM stereo. The pace car also included front and rear spoilers and an interior finished entirely in Silver. The '78 pace car became so popular that it made the front page of the "Wall Street Journal". As part of a Corvette collection for one of the largest Chevrolet dealers in the nation, this example has been maintained to exacting standards. Certain to continue its appreciation this automobile would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
