Description
Lot #370 - This original Formula S 340 Barracuda convertible was purchased form current owner's transmission re-builder after sitting for 10 years in his garage. It needed complete body and mechanical restoration. Previous owner drove car for multiple years in California and Arizona before parking it and disassembling it for a mechanical rebuild. Ten years and two children later, he finally realized it wasn't going to happen anytime soon so he relinquished it to its current owner knowing it would get completed. The car was taken directly to the body shop where it was disassembled, sanded down to metal, straightened and massaged back to its previous glory. The car had and still has perfect rust-free floors and body panels. Light rust areas were removed and new metal welded in place. The car, when purchased, had its inner fenders cut out for through fender well headers, so during the restoration those inner fenders were removed and rust-free replacements were installed. Unfortunately, the Fender Tag was tossed along with the old inner fenders. Owner will guarantee car for its authenticity. Engine is a "71" 340 totally gone through with large valve heads and correct grind cam that was used when new. Engine gets its induction from an era-correct Edelbrock LD4B aluminum dual plane intake with a new 600cfm electric choke Edelbrock carb. 727 automatic transmission was totally gone through as well as 8 ? rear which sports a 3:55 sure-grip axle. All exterior chrome was refinished as well as all aluminum trim straightened and dressed as original. Braking system is original Kelsey-Hayes non-power disc with new slotted rotors up front and large drum in rear. Car runs and drives excellent.
