Description
Lot #781 - The final year for the most successful muscle car in the history of AMC. The AMX and Javelin, with the help of Roger Penske and Mark Donahue, brought both respect and the Trans Am racing title home to American Motors. This highly optioned and extremely rare example sports the highest horsepower engine ever produced by AMC, the 401cid powerplant. In addition the desirable options of a 4-speed, 3.54:1 traction lock, tilt, rear defrost, Rally Pac and Go Package options, and one of only a few painted Maxi Blue. This is a matching numbers, rust-free example. Less than 100 miles on the full nut and bolt restoration of over 4 years with all fasteners, latches, etc. re-plated. The restoration was performed by an owner of over 19 years who also worked as an AMC parts distributor, so rest assured the very best NOS parts were used. Currently, the ceramic-coated Hooker super comp headers and an AM/FM 4 speaker cassette stereo are installed, however the original manifolds and radio have been retained for the new owner. Extremely rare. Less than 25, 401 4-speeds produced in 1974, and Maxi Blue is an exceedingly rare and desirable. Only a total of 4,980 Javelin-AMX's were produced in the final year of 1974.
