Description
Lot #1264.1 - Monster Garage has always been known for its tight deadlines, sure, but this is the first time its builders couldn't leave the set ,literally. Because in this episode, a select group of Folsom State Prison inmates, many of whom learned their mechanical skills while behind bars, joined Jesse in transforming a rusty 1969 Chevy Impala into the ultimate low-rider. Given the circumstances of building a car in secured prison, most of the tools had to be brought in from the outside. This proved to be a very rough limitation for the crew, since the shop had limited supplies. The team pulled out the dents and filled the holes on the Impala's body. The grille and airbag system's plumbing was custom made for the Folsom. The hydraulics are controlled by a remote found in front seat. The airbags are the Folsom's main feature. If the airbags lift the car anywhere between 0" and 9". A side from the custom grille and airbags, new fenders, body panels, and door and trunk actuators for keyless entry were acquired to finish the low rider. THE BUILDERS: Jesse James, custom-bike builder/designer, West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, CA, Eric Schneider, engine expert, San Bernardino, CA, Josue Corral, amateur mechanic and welder, San Bernardino, CA, Falvius Knox, amateur welder, Vacaville, CA, Saul Marquez, jack-of-all-trades, Hanford, CA, and Samuel Padgett, mechanic, Sacramento, CA. VEHICLE SPECS: Height: 47"; Width: 84"; Length: 212"; Ground Clearance: 9" when airbags are inflated; otherwise zero; Weight: 3,000 lbs. Special Welds: The team performed special welds while replacing the front floor pan, custom-building the air tank mount and mating the adjustable airbags to the frame. Also, tig welds filled dozens of holes all around the car's beat-up body, and the frame's rear end was C-notched for differential clearance. **SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY. SPECIAL CONDITIONS APPLY**
