Description
Lot #737.1 - This car is a 1937 Buick 40 Series Special which has undergone a frame-off restoration. A late model sub-frame was installed enabling the vehicle to be equipped with a 454 Buick big block engine built to 1970 specifications. It also has power steering, power brakes and Vintage Air. Great care was taken both inside and out to maintain the original appearance of the vehicle. The interior is exceptional. The fabrics are reproductions of the original broad cloths and mohair. The installation was professionally done. No detail was overlooked, right down to the original fabric and hardware on the robe rails, assist strap and privacy curtain. The wood graining around the windows and on the dash is spectacular. The dash looks totally original, except for two small, chromed air conditioning "eye balls" on each side. They have trim rings around them which have also been wood grained to match the dash. The radio is concealed in the glovebox and is equipped with a remote control. The exterior exhibits the same care and originality given to the interior. This car has side mounted spares which was a rarity in a 2 door. All of the hardware, stainless and ornaments are present and in pristine condition. Under the hood, keeping in the Buick tradition, is a 454 big block engine, restored to 1970 specifications. This year had the biggest bore and most torque of the three years it was produced. It was purposely restored to stock, but was dressed up with a good amount of chrome accents. All in all it is truly beautiful inside and out and has no problem tracking down the highway at speeds well over the 70mph.
