Description
Lot #335 - 401cid/325hp, 445 foot pounds of torque 10.25-to-1 compression Nailhead Wildcat V8 to make its presence felt. This black with black interior Buick GS comes with the original Protect-o-plate and equipped with aluminum-cased "switch-pitch" Super Turbine automatic, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, radio, vinyl top, bucket seats, console, floor shift, tachometer and 15" Buick Rally wheels. This Gran Sport started life in dry, rust-free Arizona then to California. Inspired by Pontiac's successes with their Lemans and GTO, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde routine--Buick sought to fashion its own muscle car as the split personality of one of its existing models. The result took the form of the Buick Skylark-based Gran Sport--a car with potent street credentials and stylish good looks. Of those variants produced between 1965 and 1972, among the most rare and sought after are the first year 1965 Skylark Gran Sport coupes. There were approximately 7,670 of these made in 1965. "Hot Rod" magazine tested these Buicks in the May 1965 issue with headers and Delco Air Ride as they said considered stock for the day. The best time of the day 104.46 mph in 13.42 seconds. Everything is original except where the years demanded replacement.
