Description
Lot #1247.1 - This is a totally matching numbers car and a two family owned car since new. The car was purchased from the original owner's son, Michael Brown. The original owner was James E. Brown of Mansfield, Ohio, who bought the car new from Mud Gardener Buick, Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio. He drove the car for two years, then passed away in 1957. His son, Michael, put the car into storage for the next 38 years, never driven until I purchased it on August 15, 1997, with 37,002 actual documented miles. Immediately upon purchasing the automobile, I began a 29-month, 3,000-hour professional restoration. Approximately 95% of the car is totally original, save tires, battery, exhaust system and interior. This car is equipped with radio, power steering, power brakes, original tissue dispenser, correct whitewall tires, windshield washer, period-correct wire wheel covers and stainless steel exhaust system. All of the original paperwork with James E. Brown's name is in the trunk. Shown and judged in 1999 in Columbus, Ohio, at the Buick Nationals, where it received the highest status given, a Senior Gold. It scored 392 points out of 400. The 8 points deducted have all been corrected, making this car a 400-point automobile. The car also received First in Class out of a total of 18 1955 Buicks. The judging sheets, the Senior Gold Award and the grille badge all go with the car. The Buick was shown a second time in Mansfield, Ohio, and received the GM Award of Excellence. As of this date the odometer reads 37,102 actual miles. It will read no more than 37,115 at sale time.
