Description
Lot #1244 - Fresh car that has never been shown. It was professionally built by Slim's Body Works of Freeland, Michigan. Slim is noted for his excellent finish work and paint. He is a consistent major award winner year after year. This Bel Air started out as a nice, solid, rust-free original body. Both rear quarter panels were replaced due to slight damage. It was then completely assembled on the new Paul Newman chassis to adjust all fits including the trim. The trunk lid and hood were smoothed. The body was then disassembled and mounted to a rotisserie for the show quality, two tone paint job in copper and champagne. The Paul Newman chassis was disassembled to be smoothed and finished to show quality. The C4 Corvette independent suspension was assembled to the frame along with the DANA rear end (3.73 gears), 12" rear with 13" front Baer brakes and power rack & pinion steering. The 350cid Dart engine block was smoothed and painted before being assembled with Eagle heads, Excel Injection, twin Banks Turbos and a Front Runner serpentine drive. After reassembly of the body to the chassis, a Be Cool cooling system was installed, the custom "one piece" front and rear bumpers were installed, new glass and seals, a custom ceramic 3" exhaust, Budnick wheels, a Classic Instrument cluster, a tilt wheel, a Pioneer stereo with CD and Glide seats. A full leather interior with a finished trunk completed the build. The engine has been detuned to approximately 850hp from 1100hp for streetability.
