Lot #1051 - Immediate gratification to be garnered from this restored 1968 Shelby GT350 Hertz Fastback. She is serial #1058. Well documented in the Shelby Registry. Impeccably finished in her original colors: unusual Sunlit Gold and (original) black interior. Driving #1058 is an experience like wearing a fine vintage gold chronograph. Attention-grabbing and ultimately satisfying for her owner. Equipped as specified by the Hertz Corporation featuring all the Shelby equipment (power disc brakes, power steering, competition handling package, shoulder harnesses, integrated roll bar, deluxe interior, unique console and gages, and tilt / tilt away steering column) plus selected options of an automatic transmission, air conditioning and tinted glass. Shelby 10-spoke alloy rims and an original 1968 Ford factory AM/FM stereo were added during her restoration. Delivery to Hertz occurred through Town & Country Ford in Charlotte, North Carolina. #1058 was originally available to pre-qualified Hertz customers from the Charlotte, North Carolina Airport as part of the Hertz Sports Car Club program. This gold 1968 GT350 fastback has had resided in North Carolina and West Virginia. Her current owner purchased her due to the rarity of this beautiful Shelby, her rust-free condition and comfort oriented options. A documented restoration of more than 900 hours was completed by Shelby/Mustang specialist, Martin Euler of High Performance Investments. Martin is the same craftsman that restored the 1968 Shelby Prototype, the "Green Hornet". All components disassembled, inspected and restored/replaced to achieve an as new condition. All original body panels and fiberglass retained. All Shelby unique parts restored/retained. The engine rebuilt during restoration is date code correct. The original Ford VIN stamped block is included. Significant levels of detail invested to duplicate factory finishes and markings. Production statistics, courtesy of Marti Auto Works, related to this rare Shelby indicate #1058 is one of only 223 Hertz ordered 1968 Shelbys.
