Description
Lot #633 - History: 1957 Crown Imperial Southampton. This is the car that started the fin battle of the late 1950's! Designed by Virgil Exner, the 1957 Imperial Crown Southampton 2 door hardtop incorporated some of the most dramatic style components of its day. The most unique being: the overlapping roofline, the gun sight detail into the rear fin. But Exner did not stop there hidden behind the new grille and the controversial quad headlights sat the largest production car engine of the time, the 325 hp. 392 hemi! This car was a rust free low mileage California car that has been treated to a photo documented $50k plus frame off restoration. The results are seen here, a laser straight body, a black glass finish, a beautiful custom cream interior, outstanding chrome and stainless. And all of the options: power steering and brakes, ice cold air, 8 way power bucket seats, power windows, custom sound system. #'s matching true California car. Documentation: receipts and pictures to document the restoration. Engine: 392/325 hp Hemi! A true year correct engine (reported as original by restorer). Imperial/ Chrysler authorities informed us that in 1957 the factory did not match engine & chassis numbers. They built engines and numbered them in sequence as well as the chassis, and they installed them however they came down the line. Transmission: Push button automatic. Rear end: stock. Options: Radio, cd changer, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning. Very Rare- one of 4,200 made in 1957! Yeah it's got a hemi!
