Jon Douglas was a London based sculptor whose work in '60s/'70s appeared in public places in England. He was licensed by NEMS in 1964 to produce a limited run of reproduction of his bronze plaque depicting the four members of the Beatles. Douglas was also commissioned in 1974 to produce a sculpted Stratocaster body by Ivor Arbitar, the chairman of the UK Fender distributor and the owner of the famed Sound City music shop in Soho, London. Although the initial run of six sculptured Stratocasters made for Arbitar were destroyed by fire save the prototype that Douglas retained, he later embarked on an independent project to produce a limited edition of 50 sculpted Stratocaster based on the initial run. It is believed that the majority of the second run were made of cold cast bronze but a couple of them were made with aluminium. Damage to lot. No Reserve.
