Description
Lot #745.1 - Purchased new in 1956 in Sacramento Ca,it is a 210 post sedan model with a 265ci power pack, dual 4 bbl 225hp motor, which includes the special mechanical camshaft later to be known as the "Duntov" 30/30. this car retains is original drive train, which consisted of a 3 speed w/overdrive,rear end gears are 4.57.1 ,but with the over drive its is drivable on the street,in OD ratio is more around 3.70.1. All items on this motor are correct as stated by NHRA,all casting numbers and part numbers are as they should be for a stock class drag car. which is rare to find some 40 yrs later. Jim Lamatrice was the owner, driver and mechanic of this car pretty much from day one. car was raced from 1957-1970,in that time it acquired many wins, trophy's,awards and stories in the Drag news magazine, included with the car are, photos,Drag news clippings, original time slips, pit passes, old racing jacket,National record holder certificate issued in 1965 and signed by Doris Herbert, winning trophy from Pomona Winternationals 1970,Hot Rod magazine year end pictorial from 1969 with car in it,1970 Hooker Header advertisement with car listed in it as class winner, award from Lions drag way and much more. Car was raced in H,I,J,K,M,O/stock,and won in all class's over its career, and has been restored to "as raced condition" from last race in 1970. Car is 100% street legal, and can be driven anywhere, as with cars raced in NHRA stock class back then, they were mostly "true stock automobiles" and were still and is street legal. Restoration was completed about 2 yrs and 1500 miles ago. This car has won some shows, and has been documented by James Lamatrice himself and a few early racers from the era of which it has raced. its extremely rare to find a 55-56-57 Chevrolet that has survived as a stock class race car, with its original drive train intact most were just cut up and made into Gasser's to compete in the ever changing class's back in the 60's.
