Description
Lot #980 - 1964/65 Lincoln Continental Town Brougham show car/concept car was performed on a 1963 Lincoln, serial number 3Y82N413138 for Ford Motor Car Companies "Caravan of Stars". The car currently exists in the 1965 configuration. This show car is believed to have 8,000+ original miles. The car has the original near mint interior. A cosmetic restoration has been done on the exterior paint and chrome. the padded top is original. The car runs and starts excellent but it should be noted that because this is a show car the instruments are not hooked up and there are no rear windows in the rear doors, just the trim pieces in the door that make it look like the windows are rolled down. Also, it should be noted that this car has a five inch longer wheel base than a normal Lincoln.
This car was produced to test public reaction by Ford Motor Co. to the styling cues according to a Ford Motor Car Company press release. Also according to a Ford Motor Company press the car had the flavor of the custom built town cars of the 20's and 30's and is on a 131 inch wheel base. Because the Ford Motor Company was family owned very few show, concept cars ever got into private ownership. This car is one of the "few". this concept car is an excellent driver for nice weather and would be the high point of any collection.
