Lot #706 - One of the most desired of all Mercedes convertibles. Only 141 of these autos were built. Representating the ultimate luxury in two-seater transportation. These automobiles were handmade. Custom luggage was available as an option. The original selling price was $12,500.00 This automobile was documented to be purchased new by movie star Errol Flynn. Restoration was accomplished over a four year period. Painting and upholstery were done professionally. The wood was refinished. The car was owned in the 70's by Mr. David Shisler who was the 9th president of the Gullwing group. In 1981 the car was sold to Mr. Hyatt Cheek of Dallas, TX. Mr. Cheek was the National President ot the Mercedes Benz Club of America and the 13th President of the Gullwing Group. The car was sold in 1998 by the Gullwing Motor Co. to Yankee Baseball great, Reggie Jackson. I purchased the car from Reggie in 2001.
