Description
Lot #37 - This 1977 Lotus Éclat 520 is one of only 1,500 produced between 1975-82. It has been under the same ownership for the last 25 years and has undergone a restoration in that time. Debuting in 1975, the Éclat featured a wedge-nosed, angular fastback styling. It is powered by a carbureted double overhead cam, with an inline 4-cylinder engine displacing 1973cc and delivering 160hp and 140 ft/lbs of torque. Delivering this power to the driver is a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine also features dual Dellorto carburetors and is fitted with an aftermarket oil cooler. The Éclat, typical of Lotus' styling, is composed of fiberglass panels mounted to a steel backbone frame. The suspension design is also typical for Lotus, with the front suspension made with an upper A-arm and lower lateral links, with coil springs and dual lower longitudinal links that also served as an anti-sway bar. In the rear, the Éclat uses both upper and lower lateral links holding a trailing arm and using coil springs. It has rack & pinion steering, along with front and rear disc brakes. The seats and pieces of the interior of the Éclat have been redone with vinyl upholstery, with the car repainted its original color years back. Included in the sale is the original sales brochure.
