Description
Lot #752 - Formerly owned by superstar basketball player Kevin "KD" Durant of the Oklahoma Thunder (formerly Seattle SuperSonics), Golden State Warriors, and currently the Brooklyn Nets, this 2008 Maybach 57S, with a $408,000 MSRP, was a fitting way for KD to celebrate his 2007-08 Rookie of the Year award. This Type 57S features the 604hp engine specification, as its "S" designation implies, in concert with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Handsomely finished in Alpine Silver paint, this Maybach 57S retains impeccable originality, down to its factory-applied identification/compliance stickers and under-hood labels. Exceptionally maintained and preserved, the Maybach's potent 6.0-liter V12 powerplant and surrounding engine bay remain in virtually as-new, OEM condition and specification, consistent with the rest of the vehicle. Features and passenger amenities include the comfort of reclining rear seats, a DVD entertainment system, and even a wet bar for the ultimate in comfort and convenience. Most recently, System X Max Ceramic Nano Coating paint protection was applied, preserving the Maybach's stunning paint finish for the long term, with a 10-year manufacturer's warranty included. With origins predating WWI, the rights to the Maybach marque were acquired by Daimler-Benz in 1960. Reactivated as a standalone brand in 2002 by DaimlerChrysler (now Daimler AG), the Maybach 57 and long-wheelbase Maybach 62 were the last word in luxury, power and prestige. However, due to the 2008-11 financial crisis, Maybach was placed on hiatus but revived in November 2014 as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class sub-brand. Assembly of the modern Maybach is conducted at the renowned Sindelfingen production facilities in Germany, where elite Mercedes-Benz models have been largely hand-built since the prewar era.
