Description
Lot #799.1 - This 1969 Chevrolet GTO, nicknamed "Zelda," is a radical chopped van that has changed themes seven times over its lifespan. It has a fully documented archived photo history of the transformations over the 46 years of being a show van, which is included in the sale. This van has received 62 Best of Show awards over the years. The original van was chopped 5 inches on its fourth theme and a roof from a '65 Buick Vista Cruiser station wagon was installed, along with a sliding ragtop sunroof in the center section of the roof. Its fifth transformation included a 4x4 conversion, which has 4.10 gears. The widebody conversion and gullwing side entry was completed in 2018. The most recent theme was completed in December 2022, when it was changed into "The Mystery Machine" from the "Scooby Doo" cartoons. The fully repainted van sports hand-laid and painted artwork with pinstriped borders. The inside was given shag carpeting from the front to back and decorated with hand-cut and upholstered flowers. The van is powered by its 305ci V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission. This piece of custom van history has been featured in multiple magazines since the 1970s, which are included in the sale.
