Description
Lot #437 - This no-door 1967 Excalibur SSK roadster comes finished in gloss black over a red leather interior and a matching black Stayfast cloth top. This Excalibur has been in a climate-controlled garage in Texas, except for when it was being displayed at the St. Louis Car Museum, and is powered by a date-coded L79 327ci Corvette V8 engine with 350hp mated to a Hurst-shifted Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The car rolls on polished 72-spoke 15-inch chrome wire wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown radial red line tires. This Excalibur is one of only 38 produced in 1967. The St. Louis Car Museum's maintenance staff fully disassembled the car. The body was taken down to bare metal and the body and frame were repainted. The engine was disassembled only enough to completely reseal it properly. The factory radiator was re-corded and reinstalled with new water pump belts and hoses. The ignition system was swapped for new. The gas tank was cleaned, etched and resealed with new sending unit lines and fuel pump. A new clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing were installed and the flywheel was resurfaced. The front calipers were rebuilt; new pads, routers and hoses were added; and the rear brakes received a rebuilt cylinder, new master cylinder and booster. New shocks were installed, along with a new battery and cables. The interior was also refurbished. 7,715 miles (title reads exempt).
