Description
Lot #451 - This 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS custom coupe was restored and upgraded. The body was straightened and painted orange with white stripes to go along with the OE-style chrome bumpers, grille and trim. The doors have good gaps and the weatherstripping was replaced. The engine bay and trunk were painted and detailed. The interior is black with a roll bar, fully carpeted aftermarket bucket front bucket seats, 3-point seat harnesses, aftermarket Budnik steering wheel, Hurst floor shifter, and aftermarket gauge trio, speedometer and tachometer. The car is powered by a Shafiroff-built 540ci V8 engine with 10.5:1 gear compression ratio that includes Eagle forged crankshaft and connecting rods, solid roller cam, Merlin Block, Dark Pro 1 aluminum cylinder heads with 121cc combustion chambers, roller rocker arms and Edelbrock Victor Jr. single-plane intake. The engine is fed, controlled and cooled by an electric fuel pump and filter system plumbed from a fuel cell in the trunk to the front and into the Barry Grant 4-barrel carburetor, MSD 6AL ignition system, an aluminum radiator, chrome pulleys and polished water pump. The exhaust includes headers with 3-inch collectors and MagnaFlow mufflers. The engine is mated to a race-prepped GM TH400 automatic transmission with a reverse manual valve body, an improved stall torque converter and a transmission cooler. The rear end is designed from a Ford 9-inch differential with 4.11 ratio gears and a mini spool. The car is easy to control with power steering and power brake along with 15-inch American Racing wheels, with Mickey Thompson 28x7.5-15LT front runner tires in front and 33x21.5-15LT Sportster tires out back for traction. This is a built Chevelle with over $60,000 in documents and receipts included with the purchase. It is garage-kept and has been driven to shows and cruise-ins since the build.
