Description
Lot #780 - This custom 1930 Ford Model A hot rod nicknamed "Rod-Riguez" was built by Junichi Shimodaira, owner of Paradise Road in Nagoya, Japan, and was inspired by his idols American Hot Rod builders George Barris and Ed Roth. Power comes from a stock 1949 V8 Oldsmobile Rocket engine producing 303hp mated to a Hydramatic 4-speed transmission. Finished in a custom blend of Candy Copper with pinstriping by Japanese artist Makoto, the build started in 2002 and features a z'd frame and a boxed front and rear. 4-inch wedge chop and hand-crafted fenders that give the illusion that they are floating. It includes a custom-made grille which is Junichi's trademark, and he also used a '59 Cadillac bumper for the front running lights and 1958 Chevrolet running lights in the rear. The fully custom interior features bucket seats with 1960s Tijuana-style cloth. In addition to being featured in Hot Rod magazine and other publications, "Rod" landed a role on the TV show "My Ride Rules" as well as most recently on the big screen in "Licorice Pizza."
