Description
Lot #537 - This 1957 Chevrolet 3100 NAPCO four-wheel drive short bed truck has undergone full restoration. It is powered by an upgraded Chevrolet 396ci big-block V8 engine mated to a Muncie SM420 4-speed manual transmission with Np 205 transfer case and a NAPCO front axle with a Spicer 45 Axle with 3.90 gears. In the late 1940's and early '50s General Motors did not offer a four-wheel drive factory truck. The Northwestern Auto Parts Company, or NAPCO, had been building four-wheel drive components for heavy trucks during the war and saw a niche to fill. They sold conversions kits, typically sold to new car dealers that would install them. In 1956 GMC started to offer factory equipped four-wheel drive trucks and in 1957 Chevrolet started to offer them. The engine is equipped with a new Holley 600 carburetor and 2.5-inch exhaust. The body is finished in Vivid Orange with a custom live-edge cypress epoxy river bed. Black vinyl and suede are used throughout the interior, door panels, and headliner. It has new windows all around complimented by a chrome tilt steering wheel. This truck sports new Dick Cepek Trail Country EXP tires 31/10.50R15LT.
