Description
Lot #801 - Nicknamed "KONG," this 1970 Plymouth GTX Resto-Mod is fully custom and underwent a full rotisserie build. Power comes from a 472ci HEMI V8 engine built by Lance Hedrick, crew chief and engine builder for Andy McCoy NHRA race cars. The engine build features all-new parts and produces a claimed 723hp and 647 ft/lbs of torque. Built around a Mopar performance block that has been balanced and blueprinted, the HEMI features aluminum cylinder heads, a Cross-Ram intake and is fed by dual Holley 770 carburetors. The rotating assembly is comprised of forged pistons, Manley super stock H-beam rods, full groove main bearings, a forged crankshaft and a compression ratio of 11.3:1. Other upgrades include a Pete Jackson gear drive competition roller cam, Ray Barton roller lifters and rockers, Milodon oil pump, custom Dan Olson funny car oil pan, MSD ignition and Fluidyne radiator with dual fans. Power is routed through a lightweight flywheel and onto Keisler Engineering 5-speed TREMEC manual transmission with McLeod Racing twin disc clutch, as well as 3.54 gears and Trak-Loc. The transmission is completed by a pistol-grip shifter. Braking comes courtesy of a set of 13-inch Wilwood cross-drilled slotted rotors with 6-piston racing calipers and rear 12-inch rotors with 4-piston calipers. The fully custom suspension features a Magnum Force 4130 chromoly K-member with tubular upper and lower control arms as well as RideTech ShockWave air ride suspension. The rear suspension is comprised of a triangulated 4-link and the GTX features rack & pinion steering. The Plum Crazy Purple GTX rides on Colorado Custom 'Rikers Island' wheels measuring 18 inches wheels up front and 20 inches in the rear. The wheels are shod in BFGoodrich G-Force T/A rubber with 245mm up front and 295mm at the rear.
