Lot #3000 - Hendrick Motorsports Chassis #48-287 is a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was raced by seven-time NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson. This Lowe's #48 race car competed in the 2003 Save Mart 350 at the legendary Sonoma Raceway road course. Johnson charged from a 37th starting position through the field to finish in 17th place. After competition, the race car continued to help improve Hendrick Motorsports, serving as a road course test car during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Car #48-287 was built by Hendrick Motorsports shop team members and includes a Hendrick Motorsports SB2 358ci VS racing engine coupled to a race-spec 4-speed manual transmission. Putting the power to the pavement is a Hendrick Motorsports-designed 9-inch rear housing assembly with locking differential.
